Contemporary Handless Kitchen with Oak Slatted Breakfast Bar

Upminster, Essex

The Brief

When we first discussed the project with our clients, they described wanting a kitchen that felt bright, natural, and effortlessly modern. They were keen to embrace clean lines without the space feeling stark or cold. We focused on creating an open-plan layout that encouraged social living while retaining a strong connection to the garden. The design revolved around handleless cabinetry, natural timber textures, and light-enhancing features like slatted oak details and minimalist surfaces. Storage was an important priority, so we carefully integrated appliances and created hidden storage zones to keep the space organised yet airy. Our aim was to deliver a timeless, welcoming kitchen that felt part of the wider home’s architecture and natural flow.

The Design

We delivered the brief by designing a clean, contemporary kitchen that feels warm, open, and intuitively functional. A neutral material palette anchored by textured oak elements helped soften the minimalist feel, while the handleless cabinetry kept the lines sleek and uncluttered. Bi-fold doors draw natural light deep into the space and create an easy flow between inside and outside living. Storage is cleverly concealed to maintain simplicity without sacrificing practicality. A feature slatted island provides a subtle focal point, tying the cooking and dining zones together beautifully. Every detail — from the understated lighting to the integration of appliances — was carefully considered to create a lasting, elegant, and highly liveable kitchen.

What our client had to say “We received the most incredible kitchen designed and installed by the Brighton Kitchen Company. We experienced fantastic service from start to finish – great design initiatives and advice from Alex, he suggested layout ideas, tweaks and hints which make the kitchen perfect to use and live in. It looks gorgeous, it is sleek, contemporary yet warm and inviting. We get many compliments from guests especially on the wider bit of worktop behind the sink area which we find so useful. We enjoy our kitchen every day and can’t thank you enough for bringing the vision to reality.”
